Eastlake Aesthetic Movement deep well Victorian ebonized frame.
This deep well frame is from the late 19th century and seems constructed of a hard wood. It is painted black and the painting seems the original one. Over the front of the frame is a shallow carved stylized floral design in the Eastlake simple ornamentation style. The decorative incised lines are painted yellow but one can easily feel the shallow carving under the yellow color. The frame is so decorated on the four sides. The molding holding the glass on the back of the frame has been repainted with traces of silver color and a thin gesso coat under the black paint. The hardware has been replaced.
Dimensions: 12" X 14" (35,5 cm X 30,5 cm) outside; 8 1/8" X 10" (20,5 cm X 25,5 cm) inside.
État: Very good condition for its age. Frame still well jointed. Some loss of black paint on the back. One corner might have been repaired. I don't know if it is the original glass but it is old with ragged edges.
Smoke-free environment. Shipping fees always combined on multiple purchase.
NOTE: All our products are antique or vintage. We strive to purchase and present only items in good to near-mint condition, but most pieces will show some degree of wear that we try to describe and show in our pictures.
