Vintage French print on paper from the 1950’s figuring a village scene in a Southern part of Europe. It is signed Barbara Bis in the lower right side (within and outside the plate), and marked E A (épreuve d’artiste or artist proof) in the lower left side. It is in black and white and figures a village scene in a southern part of Europe, likely France, Italy or Spain. It is printed on laid paper and presented in its original frame without a matte.
Artists proofs are printed when an artist is checking the colour and quality of the limited edition of an engraving. They are marked A/P (E A in French) and signed by the artist as the limited edition. There are fewer artists proofs released however. Usually only 10-15% of the limited edition run is released as Artist's Proofs. This makes them more valuable.
