Folk art fret work table and chairs handmade from wood veneer probably in the 1940’s-1950’s period in the High-Laurentians region.
Two of these small handcrafted pieces of small size furniture are signed by the crafter that made them and are stamped “Coopérative scolaire de Nominingue”. They carry a price tag (0. 50 and 0.40 cents). Nominingue is a small municipality of the High-Laurentians region and the Cooperative de Nominingue is still in existence although I don’t know if it is the same entity than the « coopérative scolaire ».
These cute little pieces of furniture might have been handcrafted to be sold as doll's house furniture. They certainly represent a nice piece of regional history and part of the heritage of the Laurentians.
