Vintage decorative or utilitarian square split splint handwoven country basket. Gorgeous twisted splints hard to make pattern.
Split wood seems to be maple.  Bent wood fix handle is attached to the square basket wall on the sides with small nails, just like the upper rim wood bands. This American folk art country basket is in excellent condition apart from a small break that has been repaired in one corner at the bottom.

Excellent decorative item for napkins, towels or flower arrangement, for storage, for gathering but also for a rustic country decor.
