Vintage SIAL design stoneware rust and dark brown (tenmoku brown) carafe or decanter with four small 6 cm goblets in the same colors. They are part of the Oval dinner service designed by Gaetan Beaudin in the late 1970s and all bear the Sial stamp. The carafe has its original stopper.
This Sial Oval ceramic liqueur set is beautifully crafted and represents a nice example of modern Canadian art pottery. The design has mid-century modernist influence. Oval, Beaudin's own design from 1978 for SIAL, is the most extensive and important tableware design produced in Canada. His hand made studio pieces as well as his design for industry, are highly sought after and are in numerous private and public collections. The pottery closed in 1981.
