Vintage mid-century modern unglazed trio of porcelain spaghetti poodle dogs. Due to the nature of the applied extruded spaghetti like porcelain clay, the hand painted features and gold gilt, no 2 are exactly alike. Each ivory color mat finish poodle dog has a fine gold color necklace. They are typically from the 1950's.
They all have a different position: one poodle is standing, one is sitting and the last one is lying.
The “strands of porcelain hair” of these spaghetti poodles was applied in swirls onto the poodle for a curly look. Spaghetti is fragile and tends to break or chip during the years but these three poodles are in perfect condition.
Two of the three poodles still have their original Made in Korea stickers. They were imported by NC Cameron of Toronto that “provided quality giftware to Canadian retailers for 90 years”, and began sourcing more and more goods out of the Orient in the 1950’s. The name of the company is now Enesco Canada.
