This exquisite natural and synthetic wicker and straw woven sewing or storage basket with lid really is a special and beautifully handcrafted piece. Nice blue and red colors.
This round basket shaped like a hen’s nest with a darning on the top is of high quality craftsmanship and probably of European origin. Red collar is made of felt as is the floral bouquet on the cover. It contains a well-hidden sewing kit. Darning egg on top is hand painted and opens to reveal a sewing thimble and a wood bobbin for thread. This bobbin opens as well and can be used to store needles.
Although of small dimensions, it is a really complete and very sophisticated sewing basket. Nice piece to add to a collection.

Approx. 6 ½ inches tall, 10 inches across with handles at the top and 7 inches at the bottom.

Very good vintage condition. No damage. Some water stains on fabric inside and some scratches on wood.
