Rare salt and pepper design Sial stoneware pieces of the Oval Dinner Service designed by Gaétan Beaudin. The set features a bright mottled rust color glaze with a touch of off-white or light beige for the salt container and dark almost black brown for the pepper container: warm earth tones speckled glaze typical of Sial. The set bears for the pepper Beaudin's SIAL signature and for the salt the Cerval mark or products designed for export. The pieces are perfectly compatible. The Sial dinnerware represents one of the greatest aesthetic achievements of the Quebec and Canadian industrial pottery design.
Less expensive than the handmade sets, and hard wearing, it was a fusion between handcraft and industry. The combination of earth tone colors of rust, brown and off-white achieves a warm and natural look. The design has Danish mid-century influence and was very popular at the time as it still is today. These pieces are not common.
