Mysterious beautifully patinated and ornamented small bronze bell without a clapper. It features a black cord on top and a similar but finer cord inserted in small holes at the base. Wonderful verdigris patina and paisley-like raised outside pattern. May be a type of bell struck externally. The original Persian droplet-like motif – the boteh or buta – is thought to be a Zoroastrian symbol of life and eternity.
