Vintage hand made rectangular wooden lidded trinket box made in the former USSR during the 50's. It is entirely and finely decorated with geometric design straw marquetry. Hinged lid. Very nice marquetry work. Can have been made to contain cigarettes. jewelry or other small items. Very decorative and convenient travel souvenir that can be used in various ways.
Dimensions: outside 13.5 X 9 cm X 7 cm tall (5 1/4” X 3 1/ 2” X 2 3/4"); inside 10.5 cm X 6 cm X 4.5 cm (4 1/4" X 2 3/8" X 1 3/4").
Item that has been used. Some surface wear (lack of varnish) and straw missing on edge at base and inside box.
