It is a beautiful work of folk art. The pattern used is called in English Four Point Stars where the white triangles join to form diamonds in the background. It is a personalized version of the original classic pattern. The pattern pieces are sewn by hand, but the white cotton hem all around is machine sewn. The quilt is fully lined with white cotton feed sack fabric made entirely of bleached flour sacks. The pattern and nature of the printed fabric used to make the patchwork makes me believe that this quilt dates from the first half of the 20th century, probably the 1930s or 1940s, times of economic hardship. It is a moving collectible old folk art piece.
