Mah-johng is a board game of Chinese origin that is played by four players, with pieces called "tiles". It combines tactics, strategy, psychology and calculation, as well as a more or less significant part of luck depending on the rule played (there are many variants).
It was towards the end of the 1870s that the first Chinese from the Canton region settled in Montreal. In the early 1900s, nearly a thousand Cantonese moved there and in 1911, there were more than 1,300 people. The construction of the Dominion Express Building was completed in 1912, so this game dates from the beginning of the 20th century, after 1912. A superb find! This rare object came to us by chance, to the delight of enthusiasts and collectors.
