Early hand painted and carved in Quebec folk art wall plaque. It is made of plywood for the base and bas-relief carved solid wood for the rock cliff, light house and houses.
The sky is beautifully and dramatically painted in the background. It is a rare night seascape. The maritime scene is signed on the bottom left corner. The name seems to be A. Nadeau a folk art craftsman who is known to have carved such wall plaques for selling them to tourists in the Gaspé peninsula. It seems to be an early work.
Dimensions: 12,5 cm X 20 cm; 1,5 cm thick at bottom.
