Covered vegetable green transferware dish in a classic shape and style of an exquisite quality.
This splendid covered vegetable dish green transferware features a delicate floral vine & scrolls transfer pattern, scalloped edges, embossed body décor and nicely molded ornate handle. It dates around 1900 and is marked Oxford Durability JHW & Sons Hanley England Semi-Porcelain. Oxford is the name of the pattern. There is an impressed number under the base that I cannot decipher. The company J H Weatherby & Sons of England was founded in Tunstall in 1891 in the last part of the Victorian era and moved to Hanley the following year. It made good quality tableware and giftware.
