Nice set of six rust and off-white vintage bread plates (7" across) of the famous highly collectible Sial ceramic dinner service produced during the 1970's.
THE PRICE INDICATED IS FOR 1 PLATE.
These small vintage bread plates bear the Sial 2nd stamp. They are in very good condition with a bright rust and cream (off-white) typical mottled glazing but some have slight glazing defects and two have shallow chips UNDER rim.
Gaetan Beaudin is the talented artist that designed the Sial Oval dinner service. Warm earth tone speckled glaze typical of Sial. The Sial dinnerware represents one of the greatest aesthetic achievements of the Quebec and Canadian industrial pottery design.
Less expensive than the handmade sets, and hard wearing, it was a fusion between handcraft and industry. The design has Danish mid-century influence and was very popular at the time as it still is today.
