Large bulk or master ink bottle to store ink or boot-blacking in the nineteen century Victorian era.
This large stoneware bottle dates back from the 1850s to 1880s era and is probably English in origin. Bottles like this one were largely imported to Canada. This type of stoneware bottle was also used as a container for blacking product as illustrated by a label reading "Day and Martin Real Japan Blacking - High Holborn, London" on a similar bottle.
The bottle has attractive tonal qualities and shows signs of primitive methods of firing and manufacturing (marks and irregularities in colors).
Dimensions: hight 16 cm (6 1/4 po), diameter of base 7 cm (2 3/4 po), diameter of opening 4,5 cm (1 3/4 po)
Condition: excellent. The marks on the body of the container come from the original process of manufacturing and firing. No line or chip.
Smoke-free environment. Shipping fees always combined on multiple purchase.
NOTE: All our products are antique or vintage. We strive to purchase and present only items in good to near-mint condition, but most pieces will show some degree of wear that we try to describe and show in our pictures.
