Antique all original Canadian wall or dressing table mirror made of pine or other soft wood tinted to look like dark walnut as was popular at the end of the 19th century. It features a hand carved head, a roll top compartment made of a single piece of thick pine wood and two candle supports, one on each side of the original mirror plate. The craftsman used square nails to build the compartment as can be seen on one of the pictures. The compartment door slides very smoothly. The name Nancy N (or W?) Letteker is written in ink on the cardboard on the back of the mirror. A very moving detail.
There are a few scratches on the small cabinet surface and the hand carved head has a piece missing on each side, but these don't deprive the piece from its harmony and beauty. The mirror plate, though not perfect and wavy is in a remarkable condition for its age. This antique dressing wall or table mirror is unique. It is a real piece of Canadian heritage. A high quality all original collector’s piece.
